REVIEW (from Kimota #13) If I mention the name Ingrid Pitt, a good sized number of you dear readers, will no doubt conjure up a ‘sex on legs’ vision of a horror film actress from the glorious ‘70’s’! Well, for sure you’d be right, but did you know that this lady is also a bloody good writer? Not only that, she’s also recently hit the market with another excellent effort! Following on from her very well received Bedside Companion for Vampire Lovers’ (not forgetting her magic, gripping autobiography ‘Life’s a Scream’ which came in the middle) the lady has once more used her knowledge, contacts, wit and friendly writing style to produce a very worthy sequel. We’re in the land of the large format paperback, over 190 pages with a super scoop plus of a series of cool illustrations by artist Jim Bailey. Just for starters, one Uri Geller provides the foreword. After a brief introduction, we’re off on a groovy ghost train jaunt around the British Isles, calling at Cambridgeshire, East Anglia, Wales, Essex and many points in-between. Not to mention a few trips abroad just to keep us on our toes. For example try reading about James Dean’s ‘Little Bastard’ (his car!) without thinking ‘Christine’ (bad to the bone.... or what?) many and varied are the ghosts, phantoms, spooks and spectres who get the Ingrid low-down once-over, no problem! This book’s a pleasure to read and the author deserves high praise indeed. John Carter |
