REVIEW (from Kimota #12) You may be forgiven in thinking that some American comics companies have taken on where 2000AD left off in the 80s; providing thought-provoking and stimulating comics by British creators. Dark Horse has attracted quite a number of 2000AD’s talent and in this collected Star Wars title could be a Strontium Dog episode instead of a battle of wits between Darth Vader and bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Vader sends Boba Fett on a mission but intends to kill him when he has succeeded, a plot basis which is hardly original, especially for a Star Wars story, however Wagner’s writing brings more to the plots. Original aliens and humorous locations and characters like the monastery of the Order of Pessimists make this comic a joy to read. Lucas’s Star Wars vision may be wearing a bit thin on the screen, but in comics imagination and wit still abound. Graeme Hurry |
